Hot, Hot Business!
For Cole Rosentreter, CD, a horrific military parachuting accident was the beginning of the end of a very happy 15 year career in the PPCLI. With his leg caught on a cable, Cole dangled under the C-130 Hercules he had just exited, his parachute perilously close to deploying while being towed behind the plane. Thankfully it didn’t deploy until he was freed and he managed to land successfully, but with severe injuries. In those moments, the seeds of a military discharge were sown.
What would be next for the Alberta native? “I realized I needed my next mission” he says. His three tours to Afghanistan had exposed him to the situational awareness that drone-gathered data were able to provide military planners. On returning home he was stunned to see the gap between that and what domestic emergency managers were working with. He resolved to bridge “that capability gap between Boeing, and Best Buy”. In conversation with Cole, you’ll be educated on how first responders are struggling to fight wildfires with obsolete equipment and inefficient decision-making processes. He is building Pegasus to be a force multiplier for first responders on the front lines of disasters in Canada and elsewhere.
With drones that can stay aloft for up to 10 hours he will also tell you that Pegasus is more of a data and sensor company than it is a drone business. Pegasus is building and deploying technology so advanced that they are now working with regulators to update safety codes to allow a broader range of operations out of sight of the operator. Cole and his co-founder John Hryniw (also a veteran SNCO) are transforming firefighting. They are literally bringing Silicon Valley technology to the firefight.
Always on the lookout for great people to join the Pegasus Team in a range of potential roles, send your best, brightest and biggest thinkers to Cole at www.PegasusImagery.ca.
