Even the incredible beauty of Belize was not enough to hold Justin Hackston back. Growing up in the former British colony on the Caribbean coast Justin felt that he was destined more than the tiny country could offer. So he flew to England and joined The Rifles, the storied infantry regiment. Despite being a long way from home and operating in a very different climate, Justin thrived and was promoted to Section Commander as soon as he was eligible but that was not enough, he needed more and so he also qualified as a Physical Training Instructor (PTI).
The PTI qualification really tapped into his passion for health and wellness so when love eventually brought him to Canada in late 2019 he used his resettlement grant to qualify as a civilian personal trainer. “That was not a great move for my career on the face of it” he says. “I realized very quickly that it wasn’t going to provide me with a solid enough income and nor was it the long-term career I had hoped for. On the positive side, that’s why I committed so hard to my Advanced Diploma in Business Management and got the Distinction.” With the Canadian-recognized business qualification under his belt Justin has embarked on a career in sales, first with Peloton and more recently in software sales. “Rather than selling just my time for money, I am now on a solid career path where I have the products and resources behind me to be confident that my hard work will translate into sales and income. I like that connection between educated effort and results. It’s like working out but without the sweating part. Doing the right things every day brings the results that you are looking for. I’m resilient and this is just one more different climate and culture that I’ve had to adapt to.” His coworkers comment on his excellent level of delivery, high standards and level of personal responsibility. We might take those qualities for granted from a former Rifles Corporal but his colleagues truly appreciate it and he was recently and quickly promoted to Account Exec.
The product that Justin is working with today helps Salesforce clients get more from their implementation. With this as his expertise, Justin has stepped up to manage Treble Victor’s newly forming relationships with Salesforce and Salesforce-related companies. A few enlightened companies understand that the leadership, resilience, communication skills and other attributes that the militaries select for and nurture make for great sales people, sales leaders and enterprise leaders. They see 3V as a good partner and we are working together to find the mutual benefits. If you or anyone in your network is working with Salesforce, maybe they could use a chat with Justin to find out what a difference he can make for them.
Good luck Justin, we look forward to seeing where you and these early partnerships go.
