Technology Training, Cybersecurity Workshops & Integrated Career Supports 

The Soldiers in Tech (SIT) program, delivered by the Roland Gossage Foundation, is a workforce development initiative supporting veterans, reservists, and military family members as they pursue sustainable careers in high-demand technology fields. 

Through partnerships with post-secondary institutions, industry-recognized training providers, and professional coaching organizations, Soldiers in Tech delivers industry-aligned technical training, complemented by cybersecurity workshops, career development programming, wellness-informed supports, and employment-readiness coaching. 

Training Pathways 

Participants may access training and certification pathways in: 

● Cybersecurity 

● Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning 

● Cloud computing and infrastructure fundamentals 

● Web development and technical upskilling 

● Project Management certification training 

Training is delivered through trusted education partners and aligned with current labour-market needs.

Cybersecurity Workshops 

Soldiers in Tech offers introductory and skills-based cybersecurity workshops designed to: 

● Introduce core cybersecurity concepts and best practices 

● Build foundational digital security awareness 

● Explore pathways into cybersecurity careers 

● Support informed decision-making regarding further training and certification 

These workshops are well suited for participants who are exploring technology careers or assessing cybersecurity as a specialization. 

Career & Professional Supports 

Soldiers in Tech integrates structured, participant-centred supports to strengthen employment readiness and long-term career outcomes, including: 

● Career Development & Coaching 

○ Wilder Path Coaching: focused career coaching supporting clarity, confidence, goal-setting, and long-term career planning 

○ Fast Forward Coaching: practical workshops and guidance in résumé development, interview preparation, professional communication, and job-market readiness 

● Employment Readiness Workshops 

○ Job-readiness and career development sessions 

○ Employer-informed guidance aligned with labour-market needs ○ Support navigating civilian technology career pathways

Wellness Support 

Participants have access to a dedicated Wellness Officer throughout their training experience. This role provides: 

● Individual check-ins and ongoing participant support 

● Guidance for managing training intensity and career transition ● Referrals to appropriate resources when required 

Education & Training Partners 

Soldiers in Tech is delivered in collaboration with established education and training partners, including: 

● WatSPEED (University of Waterloo) 

● ComIT 

● Next Steps Certification Training Centre 

These partnerships ensure training is credible, industry-recognized, and aligned with employer expectations.

Eligibility 

Applicants must meet the following criteria: 

● Canadian Armed Forces veterans 

● Spouses of veterans, reservists, or active-duty members 

● Reservists with a minimum of three (3) years of service 

● Must reside in Ontario 

Delivery Format 

Programs are delivered online and in person, depending on the training stream.
